DIY Hallway Shelves & Cubbies Plan
Artist and DIY-er Elizabeth G Fagan used antique drawers and wooden box to create Rustic Boho shelves and cubbies for her second-floor hallway.
“I brought along pieces from a built-in cabinet in my 1880s Chicago three-flat when I moved to Wisconsin,” says Fagan. The bottoms of two drawers from that cabinet were painted with Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane in Snowbound (SW7004). The bottom of an antique wood pox was painted with Sherwin-Williams Oil-based All Surface Enamel in Primary Red.
Fagan sanded the outsides of the pieces and put on a couple coats of water-based poly acrylic. Then she lightly distressed them with the sander.
Fagan often uses Sherwin-Williams colors in her artwork. “Using defined hues makes it much easier for interior designers and homeowners to identify, match, and coordinate the tones to any décor,” she reports. The wall behind is Sherwin-Williams Emerald Matte in Gauzy White (SW6035).
