“In mid-August, I drove hundreds of blistering, gritty miles of freeway—most of it under construction,” says artist Elizabeth G Fagan. “When the cool Lake Michigan breeze suddenly arose, a small, roadside field of sunflowers appeared. The hot, breezy afternoon became a photographer’s dream.”
