Bench, Lake Michigan, 8×8

“Portraying Lake Michigan in a single image is a challenge,” says digital artist Elizabeth G Fagan. “The view is basically one horizontal line: the point at which air meets water. But in person, it’s a massive wilderness that’s different every day. Sometimes the visual drama involves a human element—in this case, a simple wooden bench.”
