“By winter’s end, I crave the color. I had the good fortune to visit the Maldives—a tiny island nation in the Indian Ocean—where the orchids, frangipani, and bougainvillea are magnificent,” says artist Elizabeth G Fagan. “The Maldives will be one of the first places to be erased by rising oceans as polar ice melts.”
