A Lovely & Personable Neighbor

Artist and writer Elizabeth G Fagan considers this lemon-yellow-and-black beauty a most friendly and attractive neighbor.

The garter snake popped by for a breakfast of toad, presumably, as Fagan’s yard is full of ’em. At 2 to 3 feet long, the cheerful snake is likely female; males are far smaller. She bears a distinctive white stripe down her back. She’s welcome anytime—as long as she’s not a Brewer’s fan.
