This spring, I acquired a couple decorative pottery nest boxes and hung them in the River Birch outside my living-room windows. They looked charming. I didn’t anticipate that a pair of the house wrens who arrive in June would choose the blue one as their summer home. Very busy creatures are a pair of house wrens building their nest. They chatter from sunup to sundown, not only with each other, but also with the myriad nearby pairs. Goofy birds. What would we do without them?
